Sarah Sabour-Pickett FAOI, Optometrist
and Researcher
Sarah is a qualified Optometrist who graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology in June 2007. She worked as a full-time Optometrist for three years and is currently carrying out a study at the Institute of Eye Surgery, Whitfield Clinic, on the effect of anti-VEGF therapy on visual performance in patients with wet age-related macular degeneration.

Eithne Connolly started with the Institute of Vision Research in November 2009. She graduated from University College Cork with an honours degree in Environmental Earth Science.
Eithne is the clinical research technician at the Institute of Vision Research and is currently collecting research data for the Meso-zeaxanthin Ocular Supplementation Trials (MOST). The MOST trials are investigating the effect supplementation with the macular carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin) in preventing vision loss in patients with early stages of age-related macular degeneration. Eithne is also responsible for the analysis of serum for all major studies at the Institute of Vision Research, and has recently published findings from her MSc studies on this topic in the scientific journal Current Eye Research. These findings were also presented at the Retina 2009 Conference, organized by Fighting Blindness, Ireland.
